Very popular in the web opinion, that twitter does not makes money.  Really: no premium accounts, no ads. Nothing.

But if you look at twitter.com by “aided eye” you can see that there are “222 sites with this GA id”. What are these sites? What they do? Besides, there are many sites with another GA id which have word twitter in their domain names.  Unlikely that Twitter permits to independent sites to use its name without payment.  In short, subject worth to research.
